Diving, Sailing and Trekking Packages in Vietnam: Whale Island

     This destination is one of the most impressive diving destination in South East Asia for its microclimate and very unique ecosystem, resulting from a complete protection from land  masses influences and the merging point of colder currents coming down from the Sea of Japan and warmer current coming up from nearby Indonesia.
     Here, back in 1933, Cdt Jacques Cousteau marveled at the beauties of the underwater world while taking some topography coordinates for the French Navy.
     Whale Island is home of over 900 endemic underwater species some completely unique to this region of the world. This amazing ecosystem gives over 300 sunny days to the island per year and is a migration passage for the big water mammals: the whales, which are still very common in these waters. Here, in this part of Vietnam, the whales are considered as half-Gods and still the object of veneration from local fishermen, who ornate their fishing boats with painted whales eyes to bring them good luck at sea.
     Whale Island is situated in a peninsula some 100 km north of Na Thrang and is accessible by road. The area is composed of a lagoon with two passes access, the underwater terrain off shore is quickly dropping to around 4,000 meters, giving plenty of space for big pelagics. The area is also very known for its excellent sailing conditions with wind forces suitable for beginner and experienced windsurfers and hobbie cats enthusiasts.


     The area is also excellent for deep Vietnamese cultural discovery with its numerous fishing villages and vivid tradition and custom. We offer you also a combination of a diving and local discovery package, which will imprint you forever with the kindness and great hospitality of the local populations.
     Marine life at Whale Island is extremely rich and divers will enjoy warm and clear water, and the seeing of the occasional whale sharks from May to September, migrating whales, numerous species of pelagics, including two specific tunas endemic to the region.
     Our package start from either Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) or Na Thrang and provide all domestic transportation either by plane from Saigon or by road from Na Thrang. It will provide one night accommodation in Saigon and five nights at Whale Island in beach bungalows, all meals, all the diving or sailing activities.
