The
Canary Islands are an archipelago of 7 islands 1,000 km off the southern
coast of Spain, to who they belong, and 120 km from west African coast line.
This Atlantic ocean tourist paradise is attracting over 8 millions tourists per
year and has a climate prone to appeal to all beachcombers and ocean lovers. The
main island is Tenerife, where tourists will land. Diving is a very well developed activity in the Canary Islands, where the aquatic life is delighting European and international divers for decades. The ocean has in the Canary Islands, this deep blue color, due to the great depth between the islands, where the ocean floor lies 3,000 meters below. Water temperature is between 19 to 26oC depending on the season and is basically allowing year round diving activities, making the place a haven for divers in the long winter time in Europe. Marine life in the Canary Islands is very rich due to the great Atlantic nutrient movement and tides, allowing pelagic and benthic life to develop in a well balanced environment. |
