Diving Liveaboard Cruise in Djibouti on board the SY/MV Deli

The Republic of Djibouti is situated in the northern part of the "Horn of Africa", between Eritrea and Somalia. What makes Djibouti unique as an ecosystem is the profuse marine life resulting from the mix of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, as their waters mix right here in the Gulf of Aden. Djibouti is one of the major territories bordering the Gulf, with Yemen on the opposite side.

Djibouti is the home of resting migrating whale sharks from mid-September until the end of November. These gentle giants have swum here from as far as the Seychelles and the Maldives, across the Indian Ocean towards the shore of Mozambique and then up north along the shores of Tanzania, Kenya, as far north as the Gulf of Aden and Djibouti.

To the avid explorer and diver we present the land of the "Devil's Caverns", the country where two French adventurers and writers, Arthur Rimbaud and Henri de Monfreid, lost themselves in great adventures. Here in the land of Djibouti, we offer you the chance to follow in their tracks, and join the adventure cruises and diving that exist only here, where the Red Sea meets the Indian Ocean. One of the highlights of Djibouti's water are the 7 Brothers Islands, a world class dive site, with drop-offs, stunningly colorful soft corals, and an extraordinarily varied pelagic marine life with schools of fishes, occasional manta rays, and reef sharks.

Water temperature is tropical in the summer time, with excellent visibility. Most exposed dive sites are for experienced divers only as the currents around Djibouti can be strong, but novice divers will enjoy diving in sheltered places with magnificent coral gardens, shallower water and an amazing profusion of marine life on local reefs.
