Diving Liveaboards Cruises, Safaris and Discovery in Djibouti |
|
|
|
The Republic of Djibouti
is situated in the northern part of the "Horn of Africa", between Eritrea and Somalia. It
became independent in 1977, after being known as the French protectorate of the "Territory
of the Affars and Issahs" from the names of the two major ethnicities populating
this region. What makes Djibouti unique as an ecosystem is the profuse marine life resulting from the mix of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, as their waters mix right here in the Gulf of Aden. Djibouti is one of the major territories bordering the Gulf, with Yemen on the opposite side. Djibouti is the home of resting migrating whale sharks between mid-September until the end of November. These large pelagic animals have cruised here from as far as the Seychelles and the Maldives, through the Indian Ocean towards the shore of Mozambique and then up north along the shores of Tanzania, Kenya, as far north as the Gulf of Aden and Djibouti. |

To the avid explorer and diver
we present the land of the
"Devil's Caverns", the country where two French adventurers and writers,
Arthur Rimbaud and Henri de Monfreid, lost themselves in great
adventures, here in the land of Djibouti, we offer you to follow
in their tracks, and join the adventure cruises and diving that exists
only where the Red Sea
meets the Indian Ocean... |

6 double/twin air-conditioned cabins to maximize comfort, each cabin has private showers and
facilities. The cruises are run on an 8 days / 7 nights format and

|
8 Days / 7 Nights,
accommodation in double/twin air conditioned cabins with all meals |

|
| |
| We also
offer land based diving safaris around Djibouti, with 4x4 and light
boat operation. Divers will spend 8 days and 7 nights around Djibouti in
the Gulf of Tadjouah, with visit of the "Devil's Caves", Lake Assal and
a desert trek. There will be a minimum of 10 dives during this safari, all
meals are included, accommodation will be in the desert along the coast in
tents or on the beach in basic bungalows as provided in some places. We highly recommend this diving safari for adventurer divers, who are really willing to dive outside the usual and classic "beaten path" of scuba diving... This is pure diving adventure, with desert rides, self sufficiency, and a great sense of achievement for the participants. Spartan comfort, but great feelings, and it is difficult to match nights spent in the desert, there is a "touch of mysticism" there! Please bring warm clothes, as nights in the desert can be very cool... even cold. |
