This Egyptian diving destination
is made for the more laid back divers, who wish to enjoy excellent diving sites
from the Red Sea, with a focus on quality "easy going" style. Dahab, Arabic for "gold", is situated one hour and half drive north of Sharm El Sheikh airport. It was traditionally a Bedouin village and oasis in the Sinai desert on the way to Nuweiba and Palestine further North. Dahab is situated on the shore line of the Aqaba Gulf, a mere 28 km from the shore line of Saudi Arabia. |

Dahab is home of very
spectacular dive sites such as the world famous "Blue Hole" and
"Canyon" and is situated in one of the deepest area of the Red
Sea, where the desert is giving way to steep walls under water, plunging to a
maximum depth of 1,850 meters...The marine life in Dahab is usually very
abundant, colorful and spectacular. As all places in the Red Sea, Dahab could be dived year round with some highlights in this amazing specific ecosystem: July and August are turtles breeding time, August-September are the feeding and mating call for hammerhead sharks coming up in shallower waters from the deep and February-March are bringing a plankton bloom favorable for the seeing of the big pelagics such as whale sharks and manta rays. |
